Happy Birthday Kevin!

25 years ago today I spent all day in labor. Minor labor, but still, labor. I never found out the sex of my kids ahead of time. To me it's like knowing what you are getting for Christmas, and that takes away all the magic. So as I sat there in labor all day, I was kinda hoping it was a girl. Praying for a healthy baby, but still maybe a girl.
Not that it really mattered. In my heart I wanted 9 boys then a girl, but I knew that wasn't happening. So healthy baby was my prayer.
My mom was due in that evening. My due day was still a week off, so she was coming so we could spend some time together with my oldest, Daniel, before he had to share me with someone else. My husband at the time was overseas dealing with Iran. I was a bit scared, but with my mom, and my best friend, Lynn at my side, I knew it would be okay.
All went well until about the time it was to go get my mom. My contractions on the way to the bus station were 12 minutes apart. The bus station was 18 miles from the hospital. Lynn, who was driving, and I and 3 little boys were on our way to get my mom. I didn't tell Lynn how close the contractions were, but I think she knew. They were still mild, but constant.
Too make a long story short, we went from the bus station, dropped the kids off at a sitter's, to the hospital. We got to the hospital about 7 and Kevin was born a little before midnite. It was an easy labor and delivery, and my mom thought she got her girl, as the first time she saw him they had him all wrapped in pink. I later learned that they do that as babies look better in pink.
So now my baby is 25 years old. He's been a good kid, and is now a good man. He has a gentle soul and is a champion for the underdog. Kind and loving, good with people, understanding and faithful, that's my Kevin. Here'a a few pics of his adorable self.
This is one of a set of 5 pictures I took of him eating dandelions. This is the final one where he finally puts it in his mouth. I guess it wasn't too tasty!

Everyboy should ride a pony at least once. We had taken the kids to a deer park in Michigan, and they had pony rides. He loved it!

Middle school. He was big man on campus, all the girls loved him and he them. He loved baseball more and played every minute he could. That is when he wasn't driving me nuts creating havoc with his two siblings!

He and Erica last year at his birthday. He tells me "she's the one". I'm happy for him, he's a good guy and she's just right for him. No wedding date set, but she's the keeper.

It won't be long and he will probably look back on his child's 25th birthday. I know he'll be a good dad someday. He's a good man. Well worth every minute of labor, every second of prayer and worry, every grey hair he's given me. Happy Birthday Kevin!
love ya,
Mom

TGIF & Tidbits

In some ways this week has flown by and in others, it's like WOW is this week going to ever end? Really I've led a boring life this week, but here are my observations since I last blogged.

An OMG Moment! - I was driving down one of the backroads near school where a man raises horses. He was galloping one of them down the side of the road when a man coming out of the cross street, who apparently knew him, honked his horn. This spooked his horse, the horse reared up, tossed the man, throwing him onto the road.
The horse crossed traffic in front of us. Both man & horse were okay, but it scrared me for both of them. Idiot man who honked, drove away without even checking on them. I say they knew each other because he was waving and acting like he knew him.

Fall is coming moment - Cool mornings a few days this week reminded me that fall will soon be here. It will be nice to be able to walk in the afternoons again. We won't see the turn of leaves, but there are other signs of fall. The bazaars, the fair (always a cold night then) muscadine & scuppernong grapes, collards, football, and the end of hurricane season.

Who's counting? I am! 34 days til the beachhouse. I can hardly wait, as family rolls in from all parts of the country. The cousins gather for giggles in the night, and a few of us early birds gather on the deck for dolphin watching. 1 week of no school, no work and no worries. Ah Bliss! Not to mention a few margaritas and mojitos to melt away the stress. Or as I say it on a bad day, drinking often and heavily!

Encouraging - again someone tells me I am "wasting my talents without a degree." "YOU need to get that degree." But look at it this way, my perspective, money isn't everything, I do have a job I love, a job that allows me to do what I love to do off the job, a job that I do well, a job with just enough responsiblity, just enough money and yes, just enough stress. I know there are other things I could do, but I like where I am right now in my life as a whole. I know I am smart and talented, I don't need paper to tell me that.

Sleepless - I don't know why but I've been sleepless this week. My body is in this wake up at 2 a.m. mode. I'm up for a few hours, then right back to sleep. Get up go to work and I'm fine. Could be all that sleeping I did last weekend, my body is caught up. Who knows, but I'm sleepless.

Then there's that rollercoaster - life goes on. Putting out one fire after another, and I can't seem to get anyone else to take ahold of the hose. Problems here, problems there, and I come up with solutions. Some days you're the bug and some days you're the windsheild. Life goes on.

All in all life is good, that's what makes it all worth while, payment more than monetary.
Trust the process

Just some cards I made for the MIL's bazaar. I get to put it all in the mail this week. Then I'm free to scrap for me! I love making cards. FUN!
Thanks for looking, :J

Not Much of a Day

It was a gorgeous morning this morning. Cool weather, nil humidity, nice sunny breezes. I wanted to stay home. But I didn't I went to work. The longer I was there, my head started hurting. By lunchtime the lights were too bright. At 1 o'clock I told the Big P I was going home.
So I did, and straight to bed. Slept til 5:30. That's a long time for me. I'm a power napper. I'm thinking the it must be the pollen bothering me. We'll see how I feel in the am.
Oldest son and his fiancee made it back to Florida safe and sound. They came in about Midnite thirty on Saturday night. Sunday they got their apartment so youngest son helped them unload the van. I can wait to go see their apartment, it's on the water, should be beautiful!
I'm off to bed, Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

I've got it all in the BAG!

I was actually shopping for a birthday present for my son, but found this for me instead!

If you didn't know, I'm a huge Packers fan. Everyone has an AMM tote, and they are totally cool also. But as a Packer fan, this is the tote for me! It's actually bigger than my AMM tote, I can even fit my small AMM tote inside it.

Pockets line the entire edges of the inside. I didn't even fill them all. I also have room in the middle to stuff all my other stuff that doesn't need pockets. One side has pockets on the outside and pouches on the other. Each end has two pockets also. I've stuffed all my stamp bars in three of the pockets, one pocket has a bunch of little scrappin' doodads in it. One has Glue dots in it, one pocket is still empty.

The bag still fits on my little rotating stand, so I'm really loving it. Not really sure what I will do with my old AMM tote, but my new Packer tote is a keeper!

Edited later: I got this cool bag at www.packerproshop.com unless you are a Green Bay Packer fan, you probably don't want it. But I bet if you search Lowe's, Home Depot or Menards, whatever your local homestore is, you can find one! It just won't be as pretty! LOL!

It's the Weekend!!!

I'm not even going to go into the details about the game last night. We lost. Nuff about that.
It was good to see a few of our alumni there. Alumni players, that is. They sat with me most of the game and I caught up on their lives and made sure that they could still lie to me about how well they are behaving, doing their bible study and still loving their mommas. I love those boys and miss them being around.
They were a part of our first two classes at school. Back when we knew every kid and most of their mommas. They even updated me on what my son has been up to that he doesn't tell me. Ya know, he's behaving too, doing his bible study and of course still loves his momma. Two of them live on their own, two still live at home. One has a baby and is a single father. If I had to pick one to be a single father, it would be him. So mature, responsible, polite, and level headed. His daughter at 18 months is just a doll baby. She is like her daddy, just as sweet and very polite, well behaved.
Of course now is when they are comfortable enough to start telling the stories of what they were doing in HS. Things I'm glad I didn't know then. Stuff we've all done at one time or another. They made me laugh all night long.
I will say that two of them have benefited greatly from being at our school. They have gone on to using what they learned at our school to get awesome jobs with the local power company and are doing quite well. Good thing for Thomas with a daughter to raise! Seeing them made my evening.
Today I'm cleaning and am going to go to the LSS. I may even cook dinner tonite! LOL! That's a sad statement isn't it. Well I'm off, Have a wondermous day!

Looking at the Downslide to the Weekend

What a day it has been!
I'm thankful that I wasn't on my cell phone or toying with the radio this am as I left my house driving to work. As I neared the local Tom Thumb to get gas, a gold Lincoln with a big African American woman almost hit my front end. She was tearing out of the Tom Thumb after driving off from stealing her gas. Had I not been aware, I would have been smashed in the ditch. Thank God I was aware.
So after I paid for my gas that I pumped I waited for traffic to slow down so I could get on my merry way. I watched a rather ragged looking couple cross the street and she had a bottle of water. She took her last swig, and yep, you guessed it, threw the bottle down. Maybe it was because my morning had already been not off to a great start, or maybe it just irritates me when people litter my neighborhood, But I just had to roll down my window. "Hey, you dropped something, you may want to pick that up." She glanced back, saw the bottle I was talking about, and gave me half a peace sign. I wanted to say "Bitch", but there was a break in traffic and I took advantage of that.
I couldn't wait to get to work and check the calendar. I think the whole school heard me whoop and holler when I found the spring break dates! WOOHOOO! I am going on another Hilltop cruise. This time I'm taking my much older sister to chaperone me!
Looking foward to the next few days. Tomorrow is JV football, hoping they stay undefeated. Friday is an away game for Varsity, not too far away tho. Hoping for their first win. Saturday DS1 and his fiancee should be back in town. She is being transferred to a town near here. She's a scrapbooker, so I'm glad to have company closer to scrap with. I'm glad they will be back this way.
I'm off to watch weather and see what's going on in the gulf. Who knows? I could be packing to run from the hurricane!

:J

Just a Happy Hump Day!

It is still cool in the mornings, but it doesn't last long once the sun comes up! The scoop is that it will be 50 on Saturday morning. I can hardly wait. I love cool mornings. Usually I take the first really cool morning of the fall off of work, a kind of mental health day. I like to take the first really warm day in spring off too. You need mental health days like that sometimes.
Speaking of mental health, Hilltop Memories has their cruise booked. I can hardly wait. 5 days!!!! WoooHOOOO! Just have to check the calendar at work and make sure nothing major is happening, dust off the passport and off I go!
I watched Boston Legal last night. To me it wasn't spectacular for a season kick off. Not sure if I even liked it. But I'll keep watching. Gives me something to talk with my brother about. He called me yesterday to remind me it was on. Usually I'm calling him.
I forgot to renew my arthritis medicine the other day. I haven't had it for 2 days and already I can tell. I hurt so bad. Of all the medicine I take, I am most thankful for that one. I feel 90 today without it. I'll call it in in just a few minutes.
Off to the big world of Data. I spent all day yesterday correcting classes for our big data submission. Seems the state didn't tell the district that they changed some codes. So we had to redo a bunch of stuff. UGH! But it's mostly done now.
May go to a crop this weekend here in town. Mostly CM scrappers, but hey, it's people. Not like the Hilltop girls tho, they're the BEST!

Losing Sucks!

Losing is not reflective in how they play the game. It's really a shame that everyone focuses on the won-loss column, and not that the boys played their hearts out.
It's coming, that win. I can feel it every play I watch. They keep getting better, making more big plays and making less mistakes. It's coming.
It's a good thing we haven't hit district play yet. We can keep honing our skills on these schools that don't matter. It's practice. We want to hit district games with our mistakes corrected.
I want to hear Coach say, "well, we are playing good at a good time". That's when we get to playoffs. When we play good at a good time.
Yes losing sucks, but it's part of the process. Trust the process, we'll get there, playing good at a good time.

My Bulletin Board

Halfway through my scrappy weekend!

This project has actually been on going the past few weeks. I'm not quite done with it, but I needed to get it hung and out of the scrap room. Elle from Hilltop Memories designed this project. She taught it as a class at one of the fabulous Hilltop Reteats. I didn't get to take the class, but bought the kit at a later retreat. Elle's a fabulous person, and this is one of my favorite designs by her.

First is the overall board. I soaked the metal corners in vinegar for a few days to turn them dark. They were really shiny when I got them. If you have something shiny metal that you would like to age, put your items in a glass bowl and cover them with vinegar. Any cheap vinegar works, you don't need expensive stuff. Unless you like the smell of vinegar, cover the bowl with a plate. Otherwise your whole house smells like vinegar for the entire time.
I did the crackle paint effect for the frame. I used a mix of blue and black for the undercoat, and of course red on top. I love barn red, it's my favorite color. I would love to have about 12 ft of old red barn wood to do a wall of my kitchen!
I also used the Chalkboard spray paint to spray the piece of sheet metal in the center. LOVE chalkboard spray paint. If I had untextured walls I think I would do a whole wall somewhere in the house. That stuff is soo cool!
Next is one of the bottle cap magnets in the kit. I used a picture of my 3 boys when they were younger. It was Patrick's birthday, he's in the middle, Kevin on the left and Daniel on the right.
The conglomeration of magnets. I used some quotes I loved on the sticker sheet from 7Gypsies. I love good inspirational quotes. I'm always giving the boys quotes. When they played sports in High School. I would give them a quote on game day morning. especially during football season. So that's my work in progress! I have some weekday magnets from the dollar spots at Jo's that I want to add to this. And I have to go buy some chalk for the chalkboard. I work at a school, you think I could find one piece of chalk there but I couldn't!

Cancelled!

It has been gloomy all day. We know a Tropical Depression is sitting off the coast right now. It's just waiting to rain on our weekend. This morning all after school and football games were cancelled, due to the impending weather.
Now to tell the truth, I was not really badly disappointed in the cancellation. While I love football, I also love a good weekend in the house with no plans. Now that the game is cancelled, I can spend tonite cleaning house. That way my house will be clean and I can play without any guilt about what I should be doing. LOL! Not that I really have any guilt.
It rained about noonish pretty heavy. But now it's been stopped for a few hours. Just gloomy looking outside.
So I shall be delving into housework tonite. Tomorrow it's play, play, play! It can rain all it wants! Monday night we will make up the game we were supposed to play tonite. Which is okay, because I'll be done playing!

UNDEFEATED!

Our little Jaguar JV team is undefeated, 3-0! WE are so proud of them. Tonite they won 34-24 over the local Catholic HS. Friday night our Varsity plays Catholic also. Let's hope they fare as well also.

Spent 90% of my day in meetings. UGH! This mornings 1 hour meeting turned into 3 1/2 hours and nothing was resolved. I guess we will have to have another 3 1/2 meeting to resolve any thing. This afternoon it was a one hour meeting that was supposed to start at 3, it started at 2 and ran 2 hours. At least it was a productive meeting, we got alot of issues resolved. But by then I had a raging headache and a football game to work.

Still have a headache, so I'm heading to bed.

Humping Toward the Weekend

Yep we are half way through a boring week. TV sucks, unless you are a Big Brother fan, and I'm not. I got off work early yesterday, and got nothing accomplished as I took a nap. The nap resulted in me not being able to sleep last night. Which puts me in a daze as I write this. Do you feel like you gave the mouse a cookie? I do.
The next few days will be more exciting, I know.
Tomorrow is a big meeting with the big big powers that be. More decisions on Dual Enrollment, it's okay, we are halfway through the first grading period, let's get this settled!
Two home football games this week. Can the JV remain undefeated? Can the Varsity win their first game this year? I think both answers are yes. If my Packers can remain undefeated in regular season, so can my JV and yes Varsity can beat Catholic High. Both home games so no late night travel for me, but lots of work.
I look forward to scrappin all weekend! The way I look at it is, my house is mostly clean, so maybe 3 hours on that. 2 hours to grocery shop, and the rest of the weekend is mine! WOOOHOOOO!
On that happy note, I'm off to eat breakfast and go to work. Have a great day mateys!

Is the Weekend Over Already?

I need a day to play! It was one of those weekends where if I didn't have to be off doing something, I stayed home and cleaned house. It sure needed it! But I am resting easier now that it is clean.
I told you about the Stampin' Up workshop, so it wasn't all work. Off and on I worked on my Bulletin Board kit from Hilltop. I had painted it green and yellow, so that the green cracks would show through the yellow. But I just didn't fall in love with it that way. So today in between cleaning the bathroom, kitchen and hallway, I painted it again.
This time I painted it Blue Angel Blue first, then I streaked some Black over that. Then I applied the crackle stuff. On top of that went the Deep Burgandy Red. Now I think I'm really going to like it. I may still use it in the scrap room, but I've also thought about putting it in my front hall. I painted the metal with Chalkboard paint. That way, hopefully, we can write messages to each other. That's why I think the hallway by the kitchen will be a good place. It's convienent to the phone, above my desk and everyone has to pass it to leave the house. Can't wait to work on it tomorrow.
FCA banquet was awesome. The speaker was sooooo funny, a good ole Alabama boy. He told the parable from the bible where Jesus asks Peter to feed his people, to care for his flock after he is gone. His perspective on it tho was from a Coach's view. and how Jesus wants Coaches to take care of their Athletes. Not just as players, but as young men and women in Christ. It was a good story. Our school had two tables full of coaches. A nice showing.
It was a good weekend. Great weather, less humid, got alot done. My Packers won, my WFHS Jaguars showed promise, the Cubbies won and life is good. I hope your weekend was good too.
:J

So far this weekend

It's been a busy one! We woke up this morning to much cooler temps, even a chill in the air! I am loving that! Now if it could just hang on! I am so ready for cool weather.
Yesterday I cleaned my bedroom. It soo needed it. Complete deep cleaning, all the dust is gone. All I have left is the windows. Of course I should clean out my closet, but when I look in there I just don't see anything I can get rid of! I did pile up a stack of capris that have served me well, but are now going to make someone else happy.
My reward for spending all morning cleaning my room was going my first Stamping up party! It was such fun! We made 3 cards. I made a new friend, Molliry, who's four. Yes, that's how she spelled her name because she showed me. Molliry and Ashlan, who's 7, sat at the table with me and Ashlan's mom, Natalee. Molliry's mom sat at the newbie table, because she has never stamped before. Molliry and I made our cards together, she was quite the stamper! These are my cards.

After the party, DH and I had date night, and went to dinner at our favorite place right now, The Shrimp Basket. Yummy!
Tonite is a Coaches' Banquet for all the coaches in our area. It should be fun to see everyone off the football field.
Speaking of football fields, I have to commend the coaches & players of Chipley High School. They were our opponents in Friday nights game. They won, 47-35. The score could have been one touchdown higher, but they were good sports and kneeled down the last minute of play instead of driving in for another touchdown. We don't see that here in Pensacola very often. As a matter of fact, most of the schools here enjoy running the score up on us. I commend the Chipley Tigers for being great sports.
Time for me to make the coffee, get the paper and enjoy the morning. I hope you have a wonderful day.

TGIS!

I'm so glad it's Saturday! I've a list a mile long of things I need to get done, followed by some play time this afternoon, and a relaxing evening with hubby.
I'm off to WM for pet food. Somehow I've let the catfood run low and now Boots is being overly affectionate, wondering when I'm going to feed him. He's turning up his nose at the dog food I put in his bowl.
I've got to get this house cleaned up. It's driving me crazy, crazy, crazy. I'm going to reverse my routine tho and START in my bedroom. It's pretty sad when the scraproom is the cleanest room in the house.
My friend Beth is back on the mend after having a pacemaker put in. You know you are getting old when your friends start having pacemakers. She is only in her early 50's. Her heart is made of gold, could be why she needs help with it beating. She says she will be back to work on Monday, I think she just needs some more rest!
Off to my first Stampin' Up party this afternoon. I'm looking forward to it, I just hope I can get away without spending tooooo much!
Well I had better get going before the lazy bug bites my butt. Have a wondermous day!

Thrilling Thursdays!

It was a good day really. One of those days were many things happen. Little things, chaotic things, happy things, good things. It was a good day.
Chaos started when I turned my computer on this am. Our student records didn't upload in the last state report. The email said for me not to worry, they couldn't find anything wrong and just resend them. Of course that got me thinking, Reports don't reject normally for no reason. Looked at the records, and a light bulb went off. At the data conference in Tampa this summer they announced some program codes that would be changing. I even asked if these changes would affect my programs and was told by the big bosses, the big big bosses, that no. Don't worry. So when my light bulb went off, I called my tech downtown and told her what I thought. I faxed her my notes with the program changes. Later I get a call and YES! that was the problem. So now we can fix it. My tech told me to tell my principal that what ever it cost him to send me to Tampa was worth every penny! The techs on her end that went neglected to relay that to her. I guess that means I will go again? Hope so!
I had a long drive in the country tonite to the JV football game. Driving up and down the hills through farmland, made me terribly homesick. I miss the country. Even the HS we played at reminded me of our HS & football field, both surrounded by cornfields! The boys won 21-7. The defense held the other team scoreless until there was only 2 and a half minutes left in the game. How exciting for them. That makes our JV team undefeated! Hopefully varsity will play well also!
So that's my boring life, boring, boring.

Well It Was Wednesday

She who never makes mistakes was a bit miffed that I alphabetized the mailboxes. She ran to tell that I was alphabetizing the mailboxes. That didn't matter, I had asked permission from the powers that be. In 15 minutes I had it done.
She stopped me as I walked out of the mailroom and said, "I was going to do that as soon as the new teacher was hired"
"But his nametag was there, so I did it"
Later, unable to let it drop, She said, "I just got an email, we're getting ANOTHER new teacher who starts tomorrow, now the mailboxes have to be done again"
"That's nice" I replied. And walked on by.
Fast forward to tonite, as I left, I said to She who never makes mistakes "I didn't see that new teacher who was starting today, did you?"
"No there's a bit of a problem"
"Oh so you were WRONG about her starting today" I replied.
"well ah, well um"
I guess I'm not the only one who makes mistakes.
;) Sometimes it feels good to stoop.

Tuesdays Tidbits

A bit late on the Tuesday bit, but it is still Tuesday. What a day!
I blew my computer up first thing this am at work. As soon as I turned it on, I got the "blue screen of death" as the techs call it. It's the first time I got it as I turned on, usually got it when I left it sit awhile.
So I turned my computer off and waited the mandatory 30 seconds, then turned it back on. No Blue screen but a message, something about battery low. I called our wonderful, marvelous, overworked tech, Mark and told him what was happening. He said, "Be right there!" Mark never says that. He rushed in, started disconnecting everything and said "I'm losing one of these a day!" and was gone.
It's hard for me to work with no puter, puter is my work. So I sat back to drink a cup of coffee and wait. Soon he zoomed in and gave me a new computer, (with my old hard drive, if you can beleive that) and I was back at work.
Shortly after that I had some upsetting news about a friend, I can't even talk about it here. It left me sitting in a daze. One that this would happen, and two that the person who told me, someone in the position they are in, would share it. I was shocked. Absolutely shocked.
After a bit I was able to resume work again. I needed to get my mojo mojoing. I did get quite a bit done at work. Including pissing off my favorite person to piss off, so my day was made.
I got home to my new Bazzill pack from QVC. I walked in and the box was sitting on the sofa. I said to DH, "who ordered QVC?" "I haven't ordered from QVC lately!" Which isn't really a lie, the Bazzill was backordered, and truthfully I never expected to get it.
I have to say I love my Bazzill pack. I just want to take it in the scraproom and caress it. Followed by cutting it up into cards, letters, embellies, and pages. It's just so rich, all 160 pages of it. YUM!
Well I'm off to go look at my Bazzill again. So Yummy!

Good Morning Monday!

I am getting to old to do this, running all weekend. I just can't stop myself tho, I still think I am 19, going all the time. I guess I feed off the high school energy from working at school.
Friday night was our first home football game. I manned the gates as usual, didn't see a bit of the game. Pissed off a cheerleader mom, because she had to walk back to the car to get her ID so she could get in free. Sorry lady, I don't know all the cheerleader parents! We got creamed again, but this week we start playing schools more our size, so that may help!
Saturday morning I met my much older sister, Susie and we did some serious scrap shopping. SERIOUS. I found the new BG line, Mellow. It's much prettier in person than online. Picked up a few dies for the Cuttlebug, the OK flowers for the revolution, and a tab die for the Sizzix. Love my Cuttlebug, everything works in it.
We stayed in SanDestin. Nothing special, Holiday Inn Express. But we slept in til 10. I never sleep til 10. We had the funniest waitress at IHOP for breakfast. Great breakfast with comedy thrown in for free. We tipped her well. All in all we drove from Crestview, to Panama City to Destin, to Ft. Walton beach and back to Crestview. We hit AC Moore, HL, JoAnns, and 4 scrap stores. Found the cutest one in Madierra Beach, Scribbles and Scrapbooks. The owner is so funny and she had a bunch of neat stuff, but not overwhelming. Loved her store. She let me use her ATG gun. I want one!!! I'm telling hubby that's what I want for my birthday!
When I got home hubby had installed my new rainshower. I love it! He also had the front yard mowed, and ordered pizza for dinner as soon as I got home. He is just too good to me. I had a ton of fun shopping with my sister. We decided we want to do this again too. We missed two scrap stores as they weren't open on Sunday. There were two malls we didn't even go into. So as soon as we get some money saved up, we'll be off on another adventure!!!

Because I Can!

Why in the world would anyone want to wear Green Bay Packer Crocs? Because I can! I am ready for some football! That Monday Night Partay! Real football starts today!

I am a fan of football, football of all kinds, HS, College, NFL, heck I've even watched the Women's football league. But I am a die hard, green and gold, frozen tundra, Favre forever, Green Bay Packer fan. It is a bit hard for my family, the one who birthed me, and raised me, to understand why I am a Green Bay Packer fan.

You see they are Chicago Bears fans, Chicago Cubs fans, and even Chicago Bulls fans. But I, the rebel child, am the Packer fan. Oh I went through my period of following the family, I cheered the Bears when they went to the Super Bowl, I even have a copy of the "Super Bowl Shuffle". But then I fell in love and everything changed.

Some would think I am a Packer Fan because of Brett Favre. I do admire and yes even lust over Iron Man Brett. But that is not what brought me to worship the green & gold. It wasn't Brett. It wasn't even Reggie White, heck I can't even think of a single solitary player that caused my heart to palpitate the way it does when the Pack takes the Tundra for another game.

My heart belongs to the Pack because of my love of football. The Packers are Football. Rich history, deep community, play here because you love the game. I would shovel snow every day if I could be a part of the committment of the Packers organization. I would sell popcorn & beer just to walk the rows of Lambeau on game day. I would freeze for my team.

I love the Packers, there are several teams I admire in the NFL. Teams that have won championships and lost in the final seconds. But I love my Packers. It keeps peace and harmony in my family, and keeps me in my husband's family will. GO PACK!

Yes Michele, You are Another Year Older!

Happy Birthday to my Friend Michele!

She is probably one of the younger ones of our group, even tho she has a college age son, she doesn't look or act like it. Michele is so fun to be around, I love being at crops with her. Her warped sense of humor just cracks me up!
I wish I could be there to celebrate with you, but since I can't, I hope you still have the Happiest of Birthdays!

Very Unlabored Day!

I begged off celebrating Sister Susie's birthday this weekend because I felt like yuk. After spending most of yesterday sleeping, and most of today doing the same, I still feel like yuk. Nothing specifically yukky, just wiped outish.
I've been drinking a ton of water, thinking it could be a touch of dehydration, but it's not seeming to help. I get dehydrated pretty easy, and pardon the tmi, but if I'm not peeing clear, I'm dehydrated. So I'm drinking water, and drinking water.
I've been feeling wasteful drinking all this bottled water. It's ridiculous paying for water in a bottle and throwing the bottle away. Today I went to WM and bought a Brita pitcher. Now I can at least drink water at home and not be so wasteful.
My trip to WM was the one thing I got accomplished today. Sad I haven't done more, but I think with beginning of school, football and all my other activities, I have worn myself out. A solid month of ten-twelve hour work days will do that to you.
While at WM I ran into my friend, Jenny. I love seeing her. We both said we need to get together more often, but our busy lives never let us. She still has one in seventh grade, so he keeps her busy. She was at WM with no kids, a big list, and lots of time. She said she was going to hit every aisle just to see what was new. I said was doing the same, but no list. I saw her later and she had a cartful, she said I needed to catch up. But I had more expensive things in my cart! It was nice to just walk around and see all the new stuff, fall colors etc. I bought my own drill/screwdriver for my projects. I'm not even telling anyone I have it. That way it won't disappear. I also got a nice pumpkin jar for my desk at work. I shouldn't have to fill my candy jar every other day now. It really holds alot.
When I got home, Rick came strolling in from practice. He wanted brats for dinner, so guess what? We went back to WM. First we went to Home Depot for my chalkboard paint for my magnet board. I have the edges painted, this week I will work on all the little doo daddies that go with it. With my new drill I can put the knobbies on. It will give me something to do this week as Rick has a busy football week.
He has field lining Wednesday night after practice, Thursday an away JV game, and Friday is our first home game. Short week, lots to do.
It's probably a good thing I rested up this weekend. I'm going to need it. I have a plan for next weekend. I just need to see if my Sister wants to join in. It should be fun, but that's another day!

Gretchen Rocks!

I knew as soon as I heard her a few years ago, that she is one of those people I admire. The girl can rock! For such a little thing, she can belt out some music. And what you see is what you get with her. No frills, All chills, kick ass rockin' country music!

I loved her stage set up with her little redneck trailer complete with Christmas lights and people dancing in the windows.

She came out through the door of the trailer with a blast of smoke, belting a song. We had the cheap seats, but not even all the way to the top of the arena. But it was rockin'.

Her band was awesome, she was awesome and I loved every minute. She's come a long way from Pocohantas ILLINOIS! YOU GO GIRL! I love her newest single "You Don't Have to Go Home, But You Can't Stay Here! I have heard that so many nights in my younger days.

I am so hoarse from hootin' and hollerin' three nights in a row. Two nights of football, one of rockin' country music! I don't think I'm cut out for this. But heck, give me a cup of coffee, a late afternoon nap, and I'll be ready to go again!
If you ever get a chance to see her, Go! If you can go to a concert in Orange Beach Alabama at the Wharf Amphitheatre, DO! You won't regret either!

Here I am!

After doing so well posting many days in a row, I got busy and didn't get to update my blog. So Here I am!! The adage is "Time flies when you are having fun!" and I guess I am. I drift between spurts of business and laziness.
Of course football season has started, and that puts a whole new diversion on my time. HS Sports season as a whole puts my life in a spin, as I have to enter all of the athletes in the state database, check their paperwork, get schedules to the right people, etc, etc, etc. And my coaches, as much as I love them, wait till the last minute to give me all the info I need.
Football season officially started Thursday night and DH and I went to that game. Our team wasn't playing, but he needed to scout with his "coachie friends" and I went because I am a glutton for HS football. I sat with my "school teacher friends" and he went his way with the "coachie friends". I really wasn't into the game, sometimes I am so ADD, that the band, the cheerleaders and just the crowd in general distract me from what's happening on the field. The bands were so, so. I have a problem with bands whose half time performance at a football game sounds like a funeral dirge. Half time shows should pump up the fans, not remind them of running through fields of daisies on a sunny day. So the bands sucked Thursday night. I sat with my fellow Packer fans, Greg and Sue, so we mostly talked Packer stuff all night and watched the game.
Not so last night. I sat with Greg & Sue again, MaryAnn & Ron, Mike & Johanna, and Jim & Jeannie. Do we see a trend here, notice I didn't say Rick & I? No, he was down on the field with his "coachie friends". Oh that's right, he's supposed to be there! LOL! But I wasn't chatting, I was in "the zone". Into the game. Even Greg said, "geez, you sure are different when our team is playing" (he should see me when the Packers play) I do get very emotional over football. I always have been since HS.
Well we were getting our butts kicked 35-10 when a lightning storm came through at halftime and they made everyone leave the stands. I went to the car and waited, hoping that they would come back out and play after the storm. I waited, and waited, but when the security police left, I figured they had called the game, so I left too. Went back to the school and waited, and waited. Turned on the radio to see if I could find what was going on, and the game on the radio had started back up, but no mention of ours. This was after an hour. Parents were still there waiting. And waiting, finally the bus came. They had finished the game! Rick said it was eerie, because when they finally came out of the locker room, no one was in the stands! But they played. We didn't do any better, as a matter of fact, it was 50-10 for the record.
But it's okay, there were many bright spots, but also stuff to work on. The boys took this loss to heart. They weren't joking and playing like I have always seen them do after other losses. They know now they have to work a bit harder. They will win this year. Next week is another team. They will get it.

Blaming it on the Moon

Wow! Crazy day! I couldn't sit still, couldn't concentrate. I felt like a ADHD 3rd grader who just drank a Jolt cola! It must mean....I'm ready for some FOOTBALL!
It was just a crazy day. My printer wouldn't work (I had no money in my account) Now I have 9,999.99. Lots of copies in my future now. I had an unplanned meeting with the Big P and the Big A--. I won the battle and the war. Still didn't get to the planned Big P meeting tho. We both stayed too busy.
Finally the HS kids all leave and I try to settle down at my desk to accomplish SOMETHING, when I hear the ambulance. I see about 6 HSers chase it down as it pulls into the parking lot. I see them go into the gym where there's a volleyball game. And they don't come out, and they don't come out. So I finish what I'm doing, go out to the hall and no one there knows what's going on. So I go to the gym. Our AP felt and they think he broke his ankle. Oh great. So I go in to school to tell my P what's happening. About that time another student comes in looking for our Athletic Trainer. Now a volleyball player is hurt. I found out later they think she broke her ankle too. So Big P packs up and is going home. I go back to my office to finish up some more work. About an hour later Big P, our AP and a teacher are going around looking worried, with radios in hand. Intruder on campus! OMG! They got him taken care of, escorted off campus, told he would be arrested if he came back. Big P goes home, I go home. So we went to the first football game of the season, sitting there watching the game, facing east and I see it. That big glow ball of a moon, and it's full. So now I know, why we had the day we did today. It's always that way. Anyone who works with the public can tell.

:J

Pushing My Way Into Another Day

Actually I'm pushing that angry post down the line. Today is a new day! Have I mentioned we've had rain? My flowers are so happy, and I'm happy too, it's cooled off some and I don't have to water flowers! LOL!
I can't believe tomorrow night is our football game. Very first one this year! The coaches are excited. The boys are excited. I'm excited! One of the coaches said he had butterflies already. He said he never has butterflies from being so excited. btw, he's been coaching 36 years! Wow! I'm excited for the kids. They haven't won a game in a while, I think this year they can do it!
Tonite my Packers play too but I'm disappointed that I can't watch them. Maybe my Packer Crocs will come today. I ordered them a week ago. Can't wait to get them.
Well, I'm off to pay bills and go to work so I can pay more bills. Vicious cycle isn't it?

Another Day, This Too Shall Pass

Ya know, people who tattletale and spread rumors just don't have enough work to do. They are mean and spiteful, and like a cancer they can destroy a host.
Why would someone, who will be gone in 172 days, really care what is happening around them? I would just sit back, do as much of my job as I have to do, and wait out my days.
But there are some people who are just so miserable, they want everyone else as miserable as they are. There is a reason you.... I guess "are the way you are" would be the best finish.
It's sad when everyone is looking forward to your retirement. EVERYONE. It's sad that you have NO friends. It is a sad comment on you. It is really sad that the only thing you do for 8 hours a day at least is make all the people around you miserable. Damn that's just so sad.
I've decided that today is the last day you are going to control my feelings. You are no longer going to upset me. You are insignificant. You can call anyone you want and tell them anything you want.
I work hard. My work is done and my work is good. It doesn't matter what you say. The people who matter KNOW. YOU can't get any of us fired. Our hearts are in the right place, about the people we serve. There was a reason you were never made the boss. Everyone knows the reason. We will be here long after you, we will survive, we will grow and become stronger. Without you, the cancerous leach.

Check it out!

Yep, over there to the right. I made a journal. Just for me I made something! I'm going to use it to track our COE progress. That's a certification process we have to go through at work. I'm in charge of the hospitality. LOL! Imagine that! I get to plan the PAR TAY! That cracks me up! I'm in charge of entertaining the people who are deciding the fate of our certification. That's like putting the monkeys in charge of the zoo.
Well I hope you enjoy my journal. I'll keep you posted on the zoo.

Just Another Manic Monday

Why are weekends entirely too short? Why do weeks seem to drag and yet weekends breeze by in a blink? At the beginning of a weekend, I have a ton of things I think I can accomplish, but in the end the weekend is over and not even half those things are done.
It seems like every weekend is the same. I start out wanting to clean house, by the time I get the living room, dining room and kitchen cleaned, and the laundry done, I have no energy to clean my room. I get my room picked up, all my week's jewelry and clothes put away, and then I stop.
Usually I can get the floor done, but I never seem to get to the dusting. I like Dusting. I like the lemony smell of the polish (I could never get used to any other scent they came up with). The furniture looks so good when I polish it. I just can't seem to get it done.
I did get a project almost finished. I scrapped most of the day Sunday. I altered a journal, using BoBunny's Tuscany Paper. I love it so far! Love the Black Eyed Susans, the reds and yellows. But there again I got distracted.
I was looking for a button to put on a tag. I got my two bags of Foof-fa-la buttons out. I spread them out on the table to look for that one button that would be perfect and I was in heaven. Looking for that button reminded me of the afternoons I could spend going thru my mom's button tin.
Mom had an old candy tin that she kept full of buttons. It was a big tin, full of hundreds of buttons. I could spend hours going through that tin. Just digging in the buttons. So many colors, shapes and sizes. Foof-fa-la's button bags remind me of that. Mom's button box. They have almost as many different colors and sizes.
I found fan shaped buttons, heart shaped buttons, flower shaped buttons, and even a red hat buttons. I think I like the multi colored verigated buttons the best. One button had seven holes in it! A few buttons only had one hole, one had 3. How odd.
So I spent an hour going through buttons. I loved the way they felt moving in my hands. The colors, the shapes and sizes. We are alot like buttons, so many different shapes, sizes and colors. I still like them all even with all the differences.
Well, it's time to get this Monday moving.
Make it a good one!

TGIF & TW

Thank GOD It's Friday and The Weekend!
I accomplished what I wanted to today at work. Mostly. Really I would love to have it all sorted and filed, but that's for next week. Maybe. I had few interuptions, so got alot done. I am pleased with our enrollment numbers, they are the highest they have been in the past few years. So I celebrated!
After work I met up with Jackie and we hit the outlet mall. She is going on an Alaskan Cruise in few weeks. I am so jealous! Not only because she is going on the cruise, but because she is stopping in Sitka, Alaska. Sitka is home to my very first friend, Vaughn. Anyway, if I ever get to take an Alaskan cruise, it will have to include a stop in Sitka, just so I can see him.
Jackie was looking for a "little black dress" for dinner. We went to Coldwater Creek, where she didn't get a dress, but she got a few blouses and I got a few Tshirts, and a pretty white lace long sleeved shirt. Oh and a pair of earrings. Had to have those.
Then we browsed through Lane Bryant. Nothing there, although she did try on a black blouse and also a black dress, but they just weren't her. Vanity Fair yielded nothing for either of us. As did Bon Worth, Burlington Brands. I got a nice, grey, shawl necked sweater in Eddie Bauer. I wanted to buy one in every color, but I held back. Our last stop was Dress Barn, where Jackie finally hit the jackpot. She found a gorgeous black jacket and top with all kinds of silver blingy stuff all over it. She looked stunning in it! She also found the perfect little black dress. To celebrate success she also found a cute, red oriental style jacket. She's set. I told her she would come back with a new boyfriend she looked so good in her dresses!
I found a pair of jeans, another size smaller so I had to buy them because they fit so well! Next size will be out of fat girls jeans and into Ladies! WOOHOOO!
So now I'm home and beat. We had so much fun! Oh and the best part, I found dark chocolate malted milk balls at Harry and David's!
Tomorrow begins the Routine. Gametime routine. Saturday morning game films, Sunday play drawing and whatever "coachie things" coaches do. What will I do with all this free time? Decisions, Decisions.

If You Give a Girl a Magazine

It was a rough day today. One of "those" days where I just wanted to get home, drink myself into bliss, drown in the pool or just walk on the beach and pretend I am a million miles away. You understand, we've all had one of those days.
Instead, with hubby nixing the beach tonite, I took a short nap. I woke up hungry, so I threw some of those nasty Stouffer's chicken enchilida's in the oven. I was being lazy and I should know better, and I have given them one last try. Sorry, but I'll buy my enchilidas from Schwann's from now on. After choking dinner down, I picked up my Country Home magazine that came in the mail today.
I love Country Home. All of my life I have dreamed of living in a Country Home. My friends used to say that I could find the most dilapidated house in a town, needing the most work and I would fall in love with it. Same with furniture, pictures, and "stuff". I just LOVE the look. Not victorian, not "country" just comfy, used, well loved.
So anyway, started reading Country Home, wishing I lived in rooms like those they show, and I came across an article about the Pecatonica Flea Market. Pecatonica (which btw, when we could spell and say that, we thought we were big time) is just an hour away from my hometown. Yeah that place, the place I wanna be when I have days like today. On to the story, reading the article about the flea market and this hip, new designer from DIY, Michele Beschen, and get to the part where she mentions stopping to pick up her mom and aunts in Savanna, IL before going to the flea market. WOW! My little ole 4,200 resident hometown, in an article in one of my favorite magazines! WOW! How cool is that! So I google her. I think I know who she is, at least I think I know her parents or her Aunts. Anyway, I need a new, creative blog to read, and I think I've found one! She inspires me! 12oo miles away, 10 years younger and she inspires me! Her show starts Sept 25th on DIY, I'll have to check her out!
It amazes me sometimes what these hobbies of mine bring to me.
And all it took was a bad day at work and trying to relax with a magazine.

:J

PS I know within minutes of reading this my much older sister will call or email and say "who are her parents." And we will spend at least a half hour discussing the family relationship/ancestry. My brother says it's our worst habit, that and staring at people in public. He hates when we do that. and yes Susie, you will know them.

Grub

Gotta love the football chowdown every fall. More food than we could ever eat. Yummy good, homemade food. MMMM!
So that was the end of my school day. This evening was the Annual football chowdown for our team. I went with Hubby as he is coaching this year. I told a friend of mine, that the rumors were finally true, I am sleeping with the football coach! LOL! Playing along she said, Which one? LOL!
I love seeing the kids, they change so much each year. They introduced their parents to us. It was fun.
They always let the seniors eat first, followed by the coaches, then the juniors, sophmores, and finally the freshmen get to clean up what's left. I looked for hubby to join him in line and he was already half through! Geez! So I got in line with one of the other coaches. OMG! The food! I had some yummy mexican type lasagne, garlic mashed taters (homemade) mac n cheese, again, homemade, a piece of fried chicken, and some very yummy, ultra delicious blueberry cream cheese bar thingy! OH I want that recipe!
It was fun seeing lots of old friends, catch up, and just hang out without having to work like we usually do. Alot of the boys didn't realize I was married to their coach, they are just used to seeing me at school.
Such a great group of kids, great group of coaches and just all around fun to be around. It's going to be a great year!

Sweet 16!

I just survived my 16th first day of school! Wow! That just does not seem possible! It sounds like I should be ready for the rocker, but I have 14 more to go. As first days go, this one was pretty good!
I remember some of my first first days, I was in the PreK classroom where the goal for the first day is to get them off the bus and to the right classroom, get them to stop crying, get them to eat some breakfast, feed them lunch and get them all back on the right bus and home. That was a good first day!
First days now are quite different. This morning it was finding rooms for embarrassed Freshman and printing schedules for those who lost theirs since Friday. The Freshmen are so cute, they don't want to ask for help, but they do, but they don't. But I know the look and so I always ask, "Can I help you with something" of course 90% of them wanted to know where a certain class was, and it would be a new teacher. So I would just send them down the right hall and tell them "Look at the room numbers" The hall only has classrooms on one side, so I think they all made it.
This morning went really well. Well except for the two "big" teenagers who wanted to know if they could have a pass so they could "Go look around" That would be a NO!
So we watched them leave and they made a left turn and then another left turn that went around to the back of our campus. I beat feet over to the other side of the building and sure enough they were coming in the back gate. I snagged an AP and after a quick call on the radio to the Deans and APs and a bit of chase in and out of several gates, they were promptly told to leave the campus before they were arrested. Something in my instinct told me to watch them and make sure they left, I'm glad I did. They could have wandered all day all over our campus. Our campus is huge and spread out. No place for intruders we don't want on campus!
So first day went well. Our best first day. Let's hope this is an indication of the year to come!

PS My blog header is courtesy of the 4 new blouses and two pair of capris I bought this weekend!

Check Out the Hang Ten Kit I just finished!

I actually put the finishing touches on it today! It's a present for my friend Lori and her girls. They go to the beach every 4th of July for a family reunion so I'm giving it to them to use for the beach album. I'm off to school, with 4 new outfits, I don't know what to wear! LOL!
:J

Tagged!

I've been tagged while I was away shopping. It must be kinda like when you miss a meeting and they put you in charge of some committee. LOL!
So I'm now tagging Michelle, Di, Shar, Wendy and Susie. Grab your Rockin Blogger girl tag and tag 5 more!

Yesterday was exhausting. We started out at Denny's for breakfast where our waitress soo sucked. Everyone was complaining! Oh well some days are that way! Then it was off to Unforgettable, where we picked up some scrap supplies. Then off to Kohl's where I got 4 blouses, two pair of capris and a bra for less then $100 with the sales and my scratch off ticket. Not bad considering I went in looking for nothing! All School clothes too!

Then it was off to Foley and Gigi's scrapbooking. I didn't buy a thing. She needs to get in some new supplies and soon or she'll be out of business!

Exhaustion had hit by then and I made my sister drive home. I caught a nap on the way! LOL!
We had mexican for dinner and vegged the rest of the night. Sorry to say, I stayed up til after midnite watching my Packer's skunk the Seahawks. Sorry to my NW Washington friends, but I have to say this. They didn't play Hasselback because two of the O lineman were out and they were worried about coverage for Matt. So if these same lineman get injured during the season, is Hasselback going to sit out then too? I am a fan of Mike Holgrem's, but I have to question is reasoning here. Preseason or not, you need to play your 1st string QB at least half the game. GO PACK!

My Hang Ten kit is coming along nicely. I'll post it when I finish as I am embellishing it a bit "making it my own". Can't wait to put pics on it too!

I'm off to do laundry, clean the pigsty a bit, and scrap! Don't forget to grab your tag!

Saturday Morning Exhausted!

You would think that with it being Saturday morning I would wake up refreshed and ready to go. Not so this morning. I am so groggy that my thought processes are a bit jumbled. My eyes didn't even want to work, thank goodness for large type!
Susie arrived about 2:30, and came by my office to watch me work. She got to meet alot of the great friends I work with, and see the ones I talk about. I, of course would not introduce her to those people I talk about, they are not special enough to meet her. LOL!
We had a great evening after she let me go home and take my Friday afternoon power nap. I treated her to Shrimp Basket for dinner, but we had the fish, it's always so yummy! Of to Jo's where we both crossed the $50 mark and Susie spent about 3 dollars more than me. Usually it's me spending more, but then I have already dropped a hundred in there this week. Off to HL where our purchases were slim and none. In Michael's she showed me the bling tool that Elle demostrated at FGT. As soon as I get a coupon, that handy tool is mine! She found massive bling, so she was happy. Target produced another handy storage container for Susie, even tho I had told her at Jo's that they were half price! She never listens to me, I tried to save her money!
Exhausted, we ventured home. After checking blogs, she went to bed and I scrapped a bit waiting for Hubby to get home from his scrimmage. All went well for him, the boys showed some good plays and a few bad. But that's what scrimmages are for, and now they can tweak the boys and get them ready for the Friday Night Lights!
This morning we are of again. Scrapbook stores, shopping and more! Jules, Kip and Di sound like they are having fun. I hope Kip enjoyed her stay in my room. Well, I need to get moving. Have a wondermous day!

It's Friday!

WHOOO HEEEE!
I guess now my question is, Is it May yet? LOL! Monday the kiddos come back so today is the last day to "get my sh-t together". And it almost is. Other than being put on "hold" by downtown in scheduling my HS students, I'm good to go.
I think my number one thing this year is going to be "Communication". So many snafus are caused by breakdown of communication. So I'll being saying everything loud and often.
Enough of that, I can make it through today, and I have a weekend to plan!
Older Sister Susie should be here when I get off work. Or let's put it this way, I'm getting off work when she gets here! DH is off to a football scrimmage in Ft. Walton, so we have the evening to ourselves. I think a trip to the Shrimp Basket is in order, followed by JoAnn's next door and HL three doors south. Doesn't it sound like heaven?
Tomorrow we will probably begin with breakfast at Denny's. Then as Citgo says, "Where will your next tank of gas take you?" (love those commercials) A few scrap stores to hit, who knows, we may end up exploring Mobile, I'm sure there's a few scrap stores there!
Ending on a positive note, a few things I am thankful for, even tho I seemed grumpy and unthankful most of the week.
Our new Computer Tech, Beth - She will lift the stress burden from our other tech, Mark, who is a dear, but very, very, very overworked. She has already given me some great advice on some of the reports I have and manipulating the data.
Our Staff - Really they are a good group and I love most of them like brothers and sisters. Every family has it's "one" and soon that cancer will be cured.
The big P - He is awesome! Hardworking, dedicated, motivating, really liking this new guy! A shot of chemo in the cancer!
My Hubby and boys - In just a few short minutes they put my life back in perspective. Love them.
Scrappin' - talk about something that takes it all away! Just let me rub some glue on chipboard, slap a piece of paper on it and nirvana sets in! Lovin' the August Hang Ten kit!
Weekends with Frogbreath - I may give my sister the shingles, but a weekend with her is my therapy. The only thing better is when we can get up with the Hilltop Girls.
Well, let's get this weekend started. I'm off to work! Later!

Just When You Think Everything is Under Control

It usually isn't. It wasn't a bad day, it was just a weird day. One filled with little surprises, things I wasn't expecting. Here, there, everywhere. Gotta love surprises. I swore when I started this blog, I wasn't going to talk about work. But it's consumed me. So I'm talkin'. Those little things that make you go "Huh?"
Didn't even get my first cup of coffee poured, and the weirdness began. All the little "I needs" This is not the week to be demanding about "your needs". I just may tell you what I think you need.
Then there's the HS schedule. Did we prethink any of this out? Our teachers don't teach til 8 a.m. but the HS bell schedule runs beginning at 7:30. Did we think about this?
Six weeks ago when we planned the bell schedules we would add, we left out the one HS at the far north end of the county because, "No one from there will want to drive this far for three classes" Well you guessed it! Yes they do!
For six weeks the powers that be have been going back and forth on enrolling these kids as adults, or as HS. There's a difference ya know. So finally as I have all the principals calling wanting to know when these HS kids will have their schedules, my boss tells me to schedule them as HS. So today what do the powers that be say? You guessed it, make them adults!
Then there was our snake problem. My office is just inside the outside door. As I walk back into the school from the most enjoyable lunch, I am met by a hall mate who says, "have you seen the snake?" Apparently a snake crawled in the door, and went into the office across the hall from mine, and now they can't find said snake. They will know where it is if it comes crawling across my feet! When I left to come home, they still hadn't found the snake.
And then there were alot of little things, little fires, that waste an afternoon. It was one of those if it's not one thing, it's another days.
Dinner was good. I met my friend Chris for dinner at a little Italian place downtown. It was yummy and I even brought hubby a dinner for when he gets home.
When I got home, my Hang Ten kit was here, and it was gorgeous! You have to check out the HangTen PaperArts kits. HilltopMemories.com. I want to start it right now!
Also while your checkin' check out my much older sister's blog. Life has come full circle, I always wanted to be like her, now she wants to be like me! Anyway stop by and say HI! at http://oldersistersusie.blogspot.com/ Soon she will even much more older!
I'm off, I have to write a speech for tomorrow on my job and what I need people to do to help me make my job done right. Let's just hope I don't say what I really want to say! I think it would start with "There's a reason you people..........!"

OY!

What a day! My eyes are like sandpaper, my fingers like jello. It won't be a long post, but I think I'll say a few things I wanted to say to people today but didn't.

1. "Failure on your daughter's part to plan, does not constitute an emergency on my part to give her transcripts to go to our competitor's school.

2. "Maybe if you did something besides stand outside your classroom and smoke cigarettes, you would have more students interested in your class"

3. "No I am not your secretary"

4. Go Ahead, leave! I was here when you came in this morning, and I'm obviously going to be here after you leave, but everyone will have their schedules, rosters, attendance and Curriculum Frameworks!" OH but the first three aren't YOUR job!

5. Marketing Plan? Perhaps if you would stay off the phone and do your job, we wouldn't need to Market!

6. "If you want to find that student's paperwork, YOU can dig through that pile, because I'm not finding it for you so you can correct a mistake YOU made."

And finally something I did say, "These are the most delicious grapes (muscadines)!" "You can leave the whole bucket!"

It's been a long day!
As they say, tomorrow is another day!

Our Last Football Free Weekend

It wasn't exactally supposed to be football free, but it ended up that way. Because of this oppressive heat, our school district said no outdoor activities for the weekend. It cancelled alot of football stuff all over and gave me one last football free weekend with my hubby.
Friday night he had practice tho, indoors. It gave me a chance to run some errands before he got home. I ran to HL, Jo's and Sam's. I picked up some cool Bic markers at Sam's in 36 delicious colors. By the way, Kip will get a set too, as she guessed that Friday night was Green Bay's first game and Brett was playing. That's what made me so happy Friday.
Of course we couldn't see the game til today, Sunday, and we knew who won, GO PACK! But it was nice to watch the game. Brett played very little, but I feel better after watching Aaron Rodgers this weekend. He looked pretty good, and I'm confident he can lead the Pack into their next era of winning chanpionships. Friday was pretty uneventful other than that.
Saturday we did our last breakfast date for awhile. From now on our breakfast dates will probably be at midnite on Friday nights. We always go eat after the game. But anyway, after breakfast we came home and cleaned house. With both of us working it took less than two hours to clean. That was sure nice! I scrapped the rest of the day and Rick took it fairly easy reading and watching tv.
Saturday night was our big date to the Brad Paisley/Taylor Swift/Kelly Pickler/Jack Ingram concert. WOW! That was kick ass! It was an outdoor arena, a new one in the area. I loved it even tho it was unbearably hot even after the sun went down. We did have a bit of a breeze, which helped, but still way too hot. It was well worth it tho because the concert rocked! The girls' hair was melted but they still sang their hearts out. Jack Ingram and Brad Paisley both looked good drenched in sweat.
I am mad at myself for not taking my camera, not even my cell phone one! In P-cola, we can't take our camera in the Civic Center for concerts, so I didn't even bother taking it to the Wharf. Our seats were in the 20th row, and I could have gotten some great pics. Ah but I have the memories and will know better next time!
I woke up this morning totally exhausted from the concert. I did drink tons of water, but all that singing and dancing just wore me out. I took a nap after reading the paper, and then about 10:30 we headed out to run a few errands before it got too hot. I hit the huge 40% off sale at Jo's and still spent $100! I got quite a few Sizzix dies, some embossing powders, quote stickers and another of those handy storage units. Good thing Rick went to the car and didn't see the end total! LOL! I will probably go back one night too as I need to return one of the dies, I already had it!
After another nap, I scrapped all afternoon and most of the evening. I finished Jules' Friends book, except for adding the pictures, and I am 75% done with Di's Summer Fun album. I think I am going to give the Summer Fun album to my friend Lori. She and her family (3 sisters and a brother) gather their kids and go to the beach for a week every 4th of July. I know she takes lots of pictures and will probably like the album. She loves all the scrapbook stuff I do, but I haven't given her anything yet.
So that's my exciting weekend in a nutshell. Other than feeling a bit woozy, I'm ready for work tomorrow. I think I am drinking enough water, but feel dehydrated. So I'll increase my water intake tomorrow some more. And actually, I'm looking forward to weekends with football. Rick will be gone every night til 7, Thursday and Friday nights he'll be gone til midnite, Saturday mornings, Sunday afternoons, football. Just think of all the scrappin' I can get done!

I leave you with my top 10 Memories of the Summer, tagged by Kip. These are in no particular order.

1. Girl's weekend in Tarpon Springs & visiting Ruban Rouge
2. Fried Green Tomatos Crop
3. Birthday Crop at Citrus Hills
4. Brad Paisley and friends concert at the Wharf.
5. Sunday morning Breakfasts
6. Conference at St. Pete, every bit of it!
7. Cub's Baseball
8. The arrival of the new Principal.
9. Road trips with my sister.
10. Wednesday Potluck lunches

I tag Susie, Michelle and Dee!

Hot Enough for Ya?

It's hot! Too hot! So hot that my car thermometer thingy said 99 degrees at 6:00 pm. They say the heat index is around 113. I really dislike August in Florida. It's almost like February in Wisconsin. Only one is hot as hell, and the other makes you think hell froze over.

Thankfully the scrimmage and chowdown was cancelled for tomorrow. But, it's going to be hot at the Brad Paisley concert as it is outdoors. I should say the Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Kelly Pickler, Jack Ingram concert. I guess that means I should just drink more. Water that is! LOL!

Poor football guys, they still can't go outside and hit each other in pads. Football players live for this you know. No one can hit without pads, you have to practice a few days without pads before you can put the pads on. So now they have had pads two days and still can't hit. They also have postponed the first game. They have to have enough hitting time in pads.

It's too hot to eat. I'm not really hungry, but a bit hungry. For ice cream, a nice cool salad, or a sub sandwich. Nothing cooked. Cooking in hot weather is just plain crazy. I remember my mom boiling potatoes on hot days. It just makes me hot thinking about it.

It's even too hot to swim. The pool water is like bath water. Guess who's son went to the beach today, as hot as it was. Yep, he's sunburnt and has a headache. Crazy kid. At least he is drinking water.

We did have a cool down this morning. A storm came through and dropped the temps about 20 degrees, it was nice and so breezy. But as soon as the storm passed, it got hot again. Too hot.

Stay cool.

Back to School!

It was the first day back to school for our teachers. It was great to see them, I really do miss them sometimes. It's noisier, busier and not quite as peaceful as the summer has been, but I'm glad they are back.
We had a huge welcome back breakfast for them. Hardee's biscuits, fruit trays, Krispy Kreme donuts, danish, coffee and juice. They sent me to KK for the donuts. Our KK has just been redone and it was the first time I was there. WOW! It looked so nice. And those donuts, ohhh they smelled so good in the back of my Xplorer all the way to school. There were a dozen donuts left and they are hidden in the records vault. I have the key. heeheehee!
The rest of the morning was spent in meetings. Laying down the laws again meetings. We go through it every year. Lots of questions asked, lots of ideas shared, that was good. I just hope the sheriff can enforce the rules.
Some of you know DH is coaching football this year. Defensive Line at the HS. They were not allowed to practice today because of the heat. Two boys at another HS in the county passed out this morning. So now no one can practice. Today was supposed to be the first day in pads too. If you are a lineman, you live for first day in pads, you finally get to hit someone. They were disappointed, soooo disappointed.
Tomorrow is a happy day as I get off at 3:30, so I think I am heading to HL and Jo's. I wanna scrap this weekend, all weekend.
Speaking of scrappin', I was hoping to go to Creepover, but it's not happening. My football schedule is clear for the weekend before Halloween, but Creepover will be the week of the fair and I have to be here. POOP! I hope they don't have tooo much fun without me. But I know they will.
Such is life, my soul is still smiling tho, lovin' life.

Everyone is Counting the Days!

Everyone is counting days it seems. Some are anxious for back to school, some are counting the days they can lounge around, enjoying a few last precious moments of freedom. I too am counting days. Not till school starts, school never ends for me since I work summers.

23 hours from right now, our teachers come back to work. It will be nice to see some most of them. It will be interesting to say the least. 23 hours.

In 72 hours I'll be in music heaven. Brad Paisley comes to town and we are going to see him!

92 days, 22 hours, 28 minutes and 30 seconds til the family reunion! WOOHOO! Love having the family here, love the beach house!

2 days, 21 hours, 57 minutes and 40 seconds and I will be a happy woman again. If you can tell me why, I have a present for you!
It has to do with BF and GBP!

Oh What Feelings!

I am paying for this weekend, at least my body is. It was so much fun, I can't believe I stayed up late and got up early. Tried to crop alot and mostly did. I think the most exhausting thing tho was the gamut of emotions I have felt in the past 96 hours.
The excitement of the whole adventure. Packing the bags, driving, making connections, seeing AWESOME women, the food, the fun. It was an exciting time.
Mental fullness. I don't know what that emotion is called, but my brain is full. Full of new techniques I learned, new ideas, over stimulation from being in a room of so many AWESOME women. I am mentally full.
Satiated Appetite OMG! the food! I am so stuffed. I love that Linda and the girls cook for us. We are so spoiled. No catered food for us. YUMMO! It's not often I get a bowl of ice cream with chocolate, caramel, marshmallow creme and a cherry! Heaven. The Saturday night dinner good enough to make you slap your much older sister! OMG!
Empowering! I came away feeling like I can do anything! I'm looking forward to using my new knowledge to work. I wanted to skip work and go to HL for supplies. Oh wait, I want to do that any day! LOL!
Thankful I am so very blessed to get to do this most anytime I want. Most thankful for an understanding husband & family, that they know how much I need this. Thankful for so many AWESOME! women and the many lessons they teach me. Lessons like you never realize you are teaching, but I am learning. Thank you for being such AWESOME women. Thankful for a safe trip home and much good company, open arms to greet me at both ends of the trip.
Sad that the distance is so far between so many AWESOME women and great friends. New friends, old friends, so many great people.
Sad also that my son's friend's mom died. I'm sorry that someone so young should have to lose his mom with no warning. I hope he knows how much he was loved by her and she how much he and his friends loved her. Her home was always open to all the boys and they loved her for that.

So now life goes on, but it is weekends like these that teach me so much, if for nothing else the time to reflect and be grateful for all I do have. Nothing like a long car trip after a weekend with AWESOME women to do that for a soul. Back to work today and thankful for a fairly smooth day. Sometimes the routine of it all is good. Cannot believe it is August already.

I wish I could bring home just an tad of the talent in that room. AWESOME CLASS! Jules' classes never cease to amaze me! I just love all of them! The make and takes were fantastic! Somethings I have been wanting to learn for years!
More tomorrow, I'm beat and it's bedtime!

On The Road Again!

Yep! I am! It's funny, I talk to my brother every week and usually one of us is on the road. This time it was me and he said I need to get help. He thinks I have a serious addiction. Yep, I probably do. But like I told him, I spent the first 40 doing what I was supposed to, the next 40 I'm doing what I want to!
We're in Tallahassee. Had a nice bathroom break at Scrapbook Market. We also had dinner with Kevin and Erica. Erica got the cutest bumblebee tattoo on her bottom. No I didnt take a picture! They came back to our hotel with us for awhile and now we are getting ready to sack out in bed. After a bathroom break in Ocala and one in Winter Park? We'll be in Sebring, hopefully long before dark!
Enjoy your weekend, I know I will mine!

While the Cats are away, the Mice will play!

It's always me. I'm the good one, the responsible one. Everyone else has gone off to play and I'm holding the fort so they can.
It's quiet, no phones, no email, no walk-ins. Nothing but the rain trying to lull my drowsy head to sleep. The hum of the computer adding to the soft rain. I need an adrenaline rush, something to wake me up.
There's always tomorrow. Tomorrow when the good one walks that ragged edge of disaster and leaves not one, not two, not three, but several hours early. Just so I can hit the road of adventure to Sebring. That way I can wave at the cats as they return from Jax headed west on I-10 and I'll be heading east.
I mean if you are going to walk the walk, why not push it to the edge?

Just a Little Busy Bee

Do you ever think your weekend isn't long enough? I do, every Monday morning. But when I stop and look back on everything I did, I got alot done.
Of course, Saturday I spent sleeping, mostly. I did have a nice dinner out with my hubby. It was a Books a Million and dinner date. Actually he goes to BOM, I go to HL next door. Then I drift in to BOM when I'm done and he'll buy me a magazine or two. This weekend they didn't have one I wanted, so we went back in HL and I got a new card magazine.
Sunday was lazy, but really it wasn't. I did laundry, cleaned my bedroom and bath. Scrapped a bit. I went to the Summer HS theater play at the Community College. It was awesome! Lois Lane stole the show from Superman. She has such talent and what a voice! Loved her. There was a girl who played another secretary role and she was very talented also! Another great voice. Superman was awesome, as was the mad professor. This Superman show was a musical so there was alot of singing and dancing. I'm telling everyone I know to go see it this weekend as it's playing again. Superman and Lois are from our school. Superman is going to USF, so my Tampa friends may get a chance to see him too this year!
I just couldn't get motivated today. Achy all day, we have rain moving in. I wish it would just downpour and get it over with! Most of our administrators left for Jacksonville today for a CTE
(Career & Technical Education) conference. The rest of them are in a two day workshop here. WOOHOOO! LOL! Not really, we have so much to do before registration begins Monday. It's hard to believe another school year is starting.
But not before one more trip to a Hilltop crop. Boy I need this too! I look foward to such fun! Hopefully I can cut out and leave early on Thursday to get to my sister's. We have to time our bathroom breaks just right so the right bathrooms will be open on our way to Sebring! To bad I can't cut out really early and we could leave Thursday afternoon! HMMMMM! Maybe I should call her and say be packed, just in case!
On the road again!

I Can't Believe I Survived the Night!

I have to preface this with, if you are a CM scrapper, you may not want to read any further. I may offend you. Second, Thank God I'm a Hilltopper!
As my regular blog readers know we're trying to bring scrapbooking to the local fair. One of the girls helping to do this, and a member of the fair "family" has been a CM consultant for the past few years. To make a long story short, she invited me to an all night crop at her home.
I understand the concept of CM cropping. All scrapbooking should be "about the memory" "about the pictures" What I don't understand is the trying to slam as many pictures as you can onto pages without any "decoration".
I like "decoration". While you will probably never see any of my pages in CK, MM, SS or any of those other mags, I do think I scrap pretty well, some simple, some medium, and some gaudy. I guess it depends on the "picture" "the story" and the mood I'm in when I'm scrapping.
I sat next to a woman, who kept asking "what would you do with this page" Those of you who know me, know the big hole that is in my tongue from biting it all night. Putting your pictures on a blank page after rounding their corners and adding another piece of plain cs and a few stickers and journaling, does not a scrapper make. My sister would be proud of me because not once did I scream at the woman, "Just step out of your box"! 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Every piece of Cardstock, every picture, every color, she asked. I was polite, I made suggestions. I bit such a hole in my tongue.
Oh and the corner rounders, can I just say how a room full of corner rounders gets really annoying at about 3 a.m.? I wanted to grab them all and pitch them out the door!
I suppose this sounds like I didn't have a good time. Really overall, I did. The food was good. The hostess was very nice, very attentive. I did get alot of cards made, which I surpassed my goal there. But I missed my table mates. I missed facing the crowd, watching everything that was going on. I missed the games, the craziness that goes on, and the awesome food we always have. But I did step out of MY box!
Thankful for what I do have,

What day is it?

Today has been many different days. I overslept. I only overslept by 12 minutes but it threw my delicately timed routine in an upheaval. So I was 3 minutes late to work. But most everyone else was later. It made me feel like I was there way early instead of late.
So went the day. I didn't want to wake up, couldn't get going once I got to work. So I drank coffee, didn't eat breakfast. So by 9:30 I was starving. Didn't help that one of my co workers had red beans and rice cooking in a crockpot down the hall.
Today was potluck day. We had decided on vegtables for lunch. Yummy! We had red beans and rice, collards, veggie casserole, field peas, potato salad, chocolate and watermelon. As always we stuffed ourselves. It's a good thing next week is the last potluck day. I think I have gained every once of my weight back that I had lost. Maybe we should do two potluck days next week. Just so I can savor the taste of real food before we go back to salads and Lean Cuisines. LOL!
Busy day work wise but lots accomplished, some stuff in limbo. I spent most of the afternoon counting numbers. Doing reports, I wonder does anyone really read reports? But I like the numbers part. Seeing how well we are doing our job.
Tonite was Scrapbooking at the Fair meeting. We finalized our judges, categories and "rules". 3 categories, Elementary, Middle/High, and Adult. Three places, $25, $15 and $10 in each category. Now to get the word out and hopefully people will enter! The Middle and High School students are also eligible for scholarships the fair gives out. So that's cool! I'm excited and feeling like we are opening up a whole new world. Does anyone else know of anyone who has Scrapbooking as a Fair category? I would love to hear how they do it!
Well that's it for me. TaTa.

Are you ready for a Quickie!

I have been a neglectful blogger! For that I apologize. I just don't lead an exciting life.
I have been scrapping. I did a page of one of Rick's nieces and am halfway through one of my mom and her sister. I was going to do a crop challenge from one of the scrapsites I visit, but last night I had a headache, and tonite I got busy cooking. Not good excuses, but what the heck. I scrap for me anyway. I should have tried to post a few finished LOs as some of the challenges were from friends of mine, but it just didn't get done.
Went to Big Lots today after my meeting and on my way back to work. They had a bunch of acrylic stamps on sale cheap, but since getting home, I found out they are tough to peel off the sheet. HMMM! I may take them back this weekend. I guess you get what you pay for.
Friday night I am going to a local all night crop. Should be interesting as I know none of these girls very well. I do look forward to next week when I get to crop with most of the HT girls.
So that's my life right now in a nutshell. Cept work, where I am looking forward to the next few months. Should be interesting. To me at least.
That's it, you're bored and I'm sleepy. Night!
